humidity is even up from yesterday. so feeling kind of oppressive also a you head out the door. i want to show you these numbers this morning. it's 68 in martins creek, 67 in quakertown, 66 in coatesville, 67 in saint davids but it's already 74 degrees right now in center city. 70 degrees in levittown. so, we're feeling it this morning. feels warm, feels muggy in new jersey, you're mostly in the low 70's, 72 in glassboro, 70's degrees right now in dover, delaware. as you're headed out the door early, we have clear skies. we're going to sea bright sunshine today once the sunrises in about 28 minutes. we do have an issue, though, with some reduced visibility in spots due to fog. so 1.7-mile visibility in lancaster. it's gotten a little worse there. 7-mile visibility at philadelphia international airport. so it has dropped a little bit even in the city itself. 5-mile visibility in allentown and trenton but just 2-mile visibility in mount pocono. so, watch for some patchy fog as you're headed out. otherwise, this afternoon is going to be bright and sunny, warm and humid. by 9:00 a.m. its 80 degrees. by noon, 88 degrees and already feeling uncomfortable
with the humidity. by 3:00 p.m., 93. that will be our high for today. but it's going to feel like it's in the upper 90's when you factor in the humidity. by 6:00 p.m., 89 degrees coming down from that high. we'll talk about the highs around the entire region and when this heat wave might end coming up in the seven-day forecast in just a minute, matt. >> all righty, karen, it's a stellar start to september on the roadways. very few complaints early on this tuesday morning, even here on the schuylkill expressway if you can believe it. these are the westbound lanes by city avenue. no delay yet between the boulevard and gladwyne. it will come. give it about 20 minutes but for now things looking good along i-76 and i-95, i476, the blue route, also sitting in the clear. but there's a crash to watch out for in the heart of conshohocken this morning along seventh avenue at fayette street by the citizens bank and if you're coming down 476, the northeast extension, a couple of issues. there's a broken down truck way up north on the southbound side between mahoning valley and lehigh valley taking out the right lane. then just a bit farther south
approaching quakertown you still have that overnight construction zone blocking the right lane. they should be out of there shortly but for now right lane remains closed. here's our good buddy ben, the ben franklin bridge, still the ongoing right lane westbound construction here also but that's supposed to wrap up this week but for this morning's commute and the rest of the morning commute this week it will just be three lanes coming into the city. so, you'll likely see delays and don't forget that the fifth street vehicular tunnel under the bridge in olde city closed yesterday indefinitely for construction. one more live look. it's 42 in bellmawr, camden county. no northbound delay yet. had a southbound traffic stop it looks like that, too, is pulling away. matt. >> thank you matt. we're following a developing story right now. new information has been coupling in over the last few hours about an accident in ocean county where a car slammed into a mother and her two young daughters. you saw the damaged stroller in the middle of route nine in lakewood. there it is. we know that the two children are in serious condition and their mother is in stable condition. the driver who hit them was in
a lincoln town car and remained at the scene. we will continue to update you on this still developing story from lakewood. and philadelphia police raided yet another illegal funeral home in the city and found three bodies that were badly decomposed and deplorable conditions throughout the place. "action news" reporter katherine scott is in the satellite center with the details. katherine. >> reporter: matt, it certainly was a gruesome discovery. the funeral director says that this is all just a misunderstanding but police say that this funeral parlor has been operating without a license. they found three bodies inside, two of them were decomposing. last night the bodies were removed from hawkins funeral parlor at 53rd and vine in west philadelphia. one of them had already been embalmed. it was in a casket awaiting cremation. two other bodies were found decomposing. one was lying on a metal gurney according to police. the other was in a body bag. it was a tip call that led investigators here. they say they found deplorable conditions at the funeral
parlor and that it had been operating without a license and the sole proprietor of the funeral home is john gaither. he said he recently brought in blare hawkins as a funeral director hoping save the troubled business. gaither says he was out of town when all this happened. police are still investigating. >> bodies under the state regulations have to be embalmed within 24 hours of arriving at a funeral parlor. if not, they have to be refrigerated under 40 degrees. i can tell you that there's no refrigeration here. >> rules and regulations are clear about how long a body can be kept out of refrigeration, aren't there, unembalmed. >> unembalmed. >> did mr. hawkins not know that or understand that. >> hey, my understanding that he did know that. >> reporter: you may remember it was just last week police responded to an unlicensed funeral parlor in strawberry mansion. there police found three bodies lying in boxes in a garage next to powell mortuary services. police say they were operating without a license since 2012. then another funeral parlor, price funeral, offered to give
a proper burial to those bodies but it turns out price was also operating without a license since 2012. as for the bodies found yesterday, the medical examiner's office has now taken charge of them. we're live from the satellite center, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." tam. >> katherine, thank you for that. it is now 6:06. and police tell us that they're looking for a sexual predator. they say that he attacked three people in philadelphia's fishtown section. investigators released this sketch of the suspect. last sunday police say the man pulled out a gun, then robbed and sexually assaulted two women and a man by graffiti pier on cumberland street in the delaware river. the attacker is 5-foot nine, weighing 200 pounds. he was wearing jean shorts a white t-shirt an white phillies cap. he also has a tattoo on his arm. a montgomery county lawyer will need his own defense attorney after finding himself on the wrong side of the law. vin center cirillo jr. is charged with raping and sexually assaulting one of his clients last month according to police reports the lawyer took several photos of the victim while that victim was
naked and unconscious. cirillo is now free on $100,000 bail. >> new car seat rules go into that effect in new jersey today. all children up to two years old must be placed in a rear facing seat with a five-point harness until they weigh 30 pounds. when they reach 40 pounds or four years old the seat can be front facing. youngsters between four and eight less than 57-inches tall must be in a forward facing car seat or booster seat. the seats are no longer necessary when children reach eight years of age but they still must wear a seat belt. new jersey's new regulations follow the recommendations of the american academy of pediatrics. >> we used to have to go through all kinds of changes to get into cuba and then hide the fact that you went to cuba. soon all july to do is make to it a local airport. maribel aber is live. you can fly from delaware to cuba. a charter airline is offering flights from the new castle airport to the islands. the flights are from jfi jets,

>> just starting to tap the brakes. not too bad here along 95 southbound side but can you see the brake lights here in the southbound lanes, just starting to slow down at cottman and then again from this point nearly a gain into girard. headed towards center city. if you can make out the skyline definitely have some low clouds in the shot this morning. on the big picture you see those speeds along 95 now in the 30's by cottman and girard. and not too far away in kensington still have that sinkhole that's blocking tulip street. i was reading an interesting article on the philly voice they said so far this year, 2019 sinkholes have been reported in the city and that's almost one sinkhole for every mile of road we have in the city. so i guess that's what you get when you have an old elderly infrastructure. over on the schuylkill expressway speeds still in the 40's and 50's so no big complaints there at this point. still have that crash in conshohocken by the citizens bank along seventh avenue at fayette street and a number of issues for you if you're coming down 476, the northeast
extension. first way up north between mahoning valley and lehigh valley there's a broken down truck taking out the right lane. then approaching quakertown it's construction in the right lane. now at the mid-county toll plaza there's another disabled vehicle taking out the left lane. speeds in the 30's headed toward the toll plaza so you're swerving around this morning on the northeast extension. and you're going to be swerving around a construction closure tonight starting at 10:00 they're going to block all the lanes along 422 westbound in the pottstown area at route 100. detour you over to high street. if i were you and i was going to be out overnight on 422 westbound i'd head for 724, schuylkill road as a better bet. that's tonight and thursday night as well. tam. >> okay, thank you matt. new here on "action news" a texas police officer is being called a hero after saving a woman from a fiery crash. officer michael malison grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran to help. the woman was still trapped inside the vehicle and then the car started to burn. he forced his way into the car
and with the help of bystanders he pulled the woman out just moments before as you see there that car went newspaper flames. no one was seriously hurt. >> also new on "action news," video showing a man pushing a massachusetts college student off a roof during a house party. the woman was seen dancing on the roof of the home near the bridgewater state university campus. people were chanting for her to jump when a 20-year-old man shoved her. the student suffered bruises and scrapes. police arrested alexander marquez after he jumped into the crowd. bridgewater state has launched an investigation. >> 6:18 now. next and new this morning, pet owners say their cat used up one of those nine lives trying to save there's. but first up, tech bites. >> hello and in today's tech bites changes coming to netflix. >> the popular streaming service is not renewing its deal with distributor epic. >> that means that movies including the "hunger games" and transformers will be removed from netflix at the end of this month. netflix says it wants to focus on more exclusive content. >> and android wear is coming

>> the man accused of killing a toddler in a hit and run crash back in april is waking up behind bars this morning. miguel colon turned himself in yesterday. investigators say he was behind the wheel when he struck a 19-year-old mother and her two-year-old son as they crossed mascher street and lehigh avenue. david alicea the little boy did not survive his injuries. a warrant had been issued for colon last week. >> also new here on "action news" an atlanta area police
officer was critically injured shot while responding to a call at the wrong house. dekalb county police say three officers showed up to the report of a suspicious person in a neighborhood and now police are still trying to determine what actually happened here after the officers went into the backyard of a home that seemed to match the description. in the end an officer and the homeowner were both shot. the family dog was killed. the georgia bureau of investigation is handling the investigation here. a public viewing will be held today for basketball legend darryl dawkins. the former sixers star known for shattering back boards died last week. dawkins public viewing will be from 4:00 to in catasauqua pennsylvania. >> looking to see if there are any average high temperatures. >> new jersey governor chris christie talks strategy for the next republican presidential debate and it involves a mention of the hulk. ♪

suburbs we're talking about temperatures in the low 70's. 70 in cinnaminson, 72 in glassboro. along the boardwalk in atlantic city 73. and holding at 70's. in dover delaware fog is an issue. 3-mile visibility in mount pocono, 5-mile in allentown, 3-mile visibility in lancaster and look at millville. that's a new number now, just .8 of a mile visibility, also in wildwood so we are noticing the fog, it's becoming a little bit more evident through the area. 7 miles if you're flying out of philadelphia international airport, you might just want to give a call ahead. satellite6 and action radar showing other than the fog, we're not looking at any big issue with cloud cover today. we're going to see a lot of sunshine today but it's going to be hazy sunshine. the air quality is an issue as well. this is an ozone action day. that means it's unhealthy for sensitive groups to be outside. the young, the elderly anyone with respiratory issues. this is not a day for you to be outside for a long period of time in the height of the afternoon. we're already at 73 but by 8:00 a.m., it's going to be 76 degrees with sunshine. by noon, 88.
i think our temperatures are going to rise a little more quickly than yesterday with all this sunshine. by 3:00 p.m., 93 but it's going to feel like the upper 90's. by 6:00 p.m., 89. if you are looking for relief, hang in there. it's not coming immediately but i'll have a sign of it in the 97 say forecast, matt. >> i think a lot of people will be. good morning to you, karen. luckily we're not looking for relief from a lot of traffic issues so far this morning, just some minor stuff on some of these roads like a broken down vehicle here in plymouth meeting on the southbound side of the northeast extension approaching the mid-county tomorrow's it's here at the bottom of your screen. police helping out. all the lanes have reopened here so that's good news but before you get to this point if you're coming south on the extension, there is still the broken down truck in the right lane between mahoning valley and the lehigh valley exit. farther south approaching quakertown you still have the right lane construction. still dodging several things on the northeast extension but in plymouth meeting, the dv is off to the side. now crash in north coventry
along north hanover by routes one. 422 westbound closing at 100 at 10 o'clock. we'll talk more about that in a bit. in conshohocken still have the crash along seventh avenue at fayette street by the citizens bank. bristol township bucks county a truck ran into a pole brought down some wires. avoid em hurts avenue near 413. coming into bucks county, 95 southbound side backing up approaching cottman. again past the betsy ross bridge into girard in the normal spots and we're just getting word of a crash in hammonton along 73 southbound. sounds serious. if we hear more about that we'll be sure to let you know. tam. >> thank you, matt. this story developing overnight a car collides with three people on a south jersey road and "action news has learned that the victims are a mother and her two young children. let's go right over to katherine scott. she's been following this story for us there in the satellite center. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, i did speak with police this morning and they do tell me that the victims are two young girls and their mother. the children are in the hospital in serious condition.
their mother is in stable condition at the hospital. this happened last night in lakewood around 10 o'clock and you can see that baby stroller flipped over in the middle of the street. accident investigators are still speaking with witnesses and piecing together exactly what happened but here's what we do know from police. they say the mother and her two children who are approximately one and four years old were somewhere in the roadway at river avenue by edgewood court when the accident happened. all three victims were taken to the trauma unit at jersey shore university medical center. the driver of the lincoln town car did stop and stayed at the scene. at this point police say there's no indication the driver was driving under the influence and there's no word if speed was a factor in this crash. there's also no word if any charges will be filed but we are expecting to learn more from police later on today, so of course stay with "action news" for updates. we're live from the satellite center, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." matt. >> katherine, thank you. police say a west philadelphia funeral parlor was operating without a
license and a tip called led police to a grisly discovery inside. they found three bodies, two of them decomposing at the hawkins funeral parlor at 53rd and vine streets. one of the bodies was placed on a gurney without being embalmed according to investigators. they say the parlor was in a deplorable condition with a bag of human remains discarded on the ground. blare hawkins is the director of the funeral home. john gaither is its sole owner. he says he hadn't been in the area recently. at this point, no one is charged with a crime. >> new this morning, six high school football players in new jersey have been sentenced for sexually hazing four teammates. the players from sayreville war memorial high must complete 50 hours of community service and probation. they will not have to register as sex officer fenders. a family court judge handled down the sentence after the players pleaded guilty to child endangerment and hazing. the hazing happened in the locker room. a seventh player is awaiting trial in family court. >> ♪ 6:35 and new jersey governor chris christie hit

the department released an additional 7,000 pages of clinton e-mails yesterday. >> we are at the big board with what has to be the ultimate pilgrimage. this is the walker family. how cute are they. the family of six has packed everything up and it's all in this vw bus including this little two and a half-year-old they are making a 13,000-mile journey from argentina up to philadelphia blogging all the way posting from every stop. they just crossed into the u.s. on their way to be here for the world meeting of families. now, catire walker and his wife noel packed up their four children and hit the road back in march. the family says strangers have been wonderful opening their doors to them though sometimes they've all had to sleep in the van which they've nicknamed you might have guessed it fracisca. after the world meeting of families they say they'll visit new york city and that will be the ends of francisca. they are then flying back to argentina. they will have deserved it by

we brought in our always on day planner to help you out through the day today. the winds are out of the west-southwest and that is just ushering warm and moist air mass we're still dealing with. satellite6 and action radar slowing we're not going to have any big problem with cloud cover this afternoon, no precipitation. we have low clouds this morning with some fog in spots but we're going to see hazy sunshine this afternoon it is going to be hot. it's going to be sunny. 93 for your high. but when you factor in the humidity, it's going to feel like the upper 90's out there today. so really uncomfortable to be outsidely by 8:00 a.m., 76 and bright sunshine. by 11:00 a.m., 86 degrees. by 2:00 p.m., we're up to 92 and by 5:00 p.m. coming down from your high of 93. we'll be about 91 degrees with lots of sunshine and just a few clouds out there. even in the lehigh valley, getting up to 91 degrees. so sunny skies and feeling humid n lehigh valley. at the shore today, a good place to get some relief. warm and humid, though. 86 degrees. but in the afternoon you know that always helps when the afternoon sea breeze kicks in and it's going to be a day like that as well so if you can go later in the afternoon it will feel even better than
that 86. here's your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. today when we hit 90 it will mark heat wave number five. we had very warm august and now we're looking at temperatures staying above average for the first week in september as well. tomorrow 11 degrees above average. 94 degrees with sunshine and some clouds. thursday it's even hotter. 95. it will feel like it's about 100 in some spots. late in the day we could get a thunderstorm or two especially north of the city but it's mostly a dry day on thursday. friday not quite as hot but it's still uncomfortable with lots of humidity. 88 degrees and a couple of scattered showers or thunderstorms that help kind of break the heat of the back door cold front come through just in time for the weekend. saturday nice and sunny, 86. no problem for the temple game. so far the holiday weekend is looking pretty good. sunday beautiful and warm, 89. so, yes, very warm but not oppressive like it will feel the next couple days. monday for labor day lots of sunshine, very warm still and 88 degrees. so, looking at that seven-day forecast, every day above average. >> okay, thank you karen.

tonight starting at 10:00. sticks with 724 schuylkill road as a better bet. matt. >> thank you matt. happening today a funeral will be held in roanoke, virginia for the photo journalist whose was gunned down with his coworker on live tv. more than 1,000 people attended adam ward's viewing yesterday. that was held at his high school in salem. visitors wore the colors of ward's alma mater virginia tech university. a former colleague killed ward and reporter alison parker on live tv and then himself last week. >> a kentucky county clerk has fought same-sex marriage all the way to the high court and today her opposition could mean fines or jail time. a supreme court denied the appeal of county clerk kim davis. she had refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples saying that it was against her christian faith. it's not clear exactly what davis will do when her office opens up this morning because gay couples say that they will be there waiting to demand licenses. her attorney says that she spent the night praying on it. she could indeed face jail
time or fines. new this morning an animal rescue in texas is working to get an obese dog back in shape. take a look at vincent who was dropped off at the shelter in harris county after his owner died. at 38 pounds, the vet says vin center is double the size that he should be. his foster family thinks he must have eaten mainly fast food because of how excited he gets when they go through the drive through line. the vet now has vincent on a leaner diet and his foster family has him there in the pool swimming. they say the good news is that vincent enjoys his new routine and home fully his more svelte self will be on display. >> he's got a lot to lose. go, go, vinnie you can do it. a live preview of "gma" is next. plus villanova is styling and profiling when a boy band surprises students on campus.
